Takaoka Mikurumayama Museum

The Takaoka Mikurumayama Museum is a facility which exhibits the Mikurumayama floats – one of the only five items registered as both Tangible and Intangible Folk-Cultural properties of Japan – all year round.
There are many different areas found inside the museum which aim to preserve and promote the fine artisanal skills of Takaoka’s craftsmanship, beautifully encapsulated within the Mikurumayama floats, along with providing an insight into the local culture which has shaped the Mikurumayama into the floats that we see today.
